Setting up Claude Desktop

Claude Desktop sends Anthropic Messages to Nexus. The app does not read ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL. Configure the connection in the app.

The shared order is on Client setup.

Values

Field Value
Base URL https://api.nexus-hub.tech
Protocol Anthropic Messages
Route POST /v1/messages
Key Nexus API key
Auth scheme Bearer or x-api-key

Do not add /v1 or /v1/messages to the base URL. The app appends the Messages path. Nexus accepts streaming POST /v1/messages and tool calls on this route.

Steps

  1. Create a Nexus API key in the Telegram bot.
  2. In Claude Desktop, open Help → Troubleshooting → Enable Developer Mode. Developer mode stays on after a restart.
  3. Open Developer → Configure Third-Party Inference.
  4. In Connection, set Inference provider to Gateway.
  5. Set the gateway base URL to https://api.nexus-hub.tech.
  6. Paste the Nexus key into the key field. Do not add Bearer or spaces.
  7. Set Gateway auth scheme to Bearer or x-api-key. Both work. Use one.
  8. Set Credential kind to Static API key. Leave sign-in fields empty.
  9. Keep model ids that appear in GET /v1/models for this key. If the list is empty, type an exact id from that response.
  10. Apply the change on this device and send a short message.

Use tools only with a model whose catalog entry allows them. This screen configures inference on this device. It does not turn on Cowork or a cloud session.

Check

After the app restarts into the new configuration, send a short message. A normal reply means the connection works.

If it does not work

  • 401 or invalid_key: enter the key again, with no prefix and no spaces.
  • model_not_found or model_not_allowed: use an id from GET /v1/models.
  • unsupported_model: the id is visible, but not allowed on Messages.
  • 404: the base URL is https://api.nexus-hub.tech with no /v1.

Send support the route, error code, time, and x-request-id. Do not send the key or a full prompt.
